Bookings for the Toyota Yaris Cross are now open in Malaysia. This B-segment SUV competes directly with models such as the Perodua Traz, Perodua Ativa, Proton X50, and the Honda WR-V.
What makes the Yaris Cross particularly interesting is its hybrid variant, which delivers some of the best fuel efficiency figures in Malaysia today, similar to what Toyota introduced earlier with the Toyota Vios HEV.
Toyota Yaris Cross Price in Malaysia
The estimated pricing for the Yaris Cross is as follows:
- Toyota Yaris Cross 1.5S – RM99,900
- Toyota Yaris Cross 1.5S HEV – RM109,900

Every unit comes with a five-year unlimited mileage warranty. For the hybrid variant, Toyota provides an eight-year warranty covering the battery, inverter, and power management system, with an option to extend coverage up to 10 years.
For context, the Perodua Traz starts from RM76,100, making it a significantly more affordable alternative within the same segment.

Toyota Yaris Cross Specifications in Malaysia
Fuel efficiency up to 27.8 km/L
The standout feature of the Yaris Cross is its 4th-generation Toyota Hybrid System. The manufacturer claims fuel consumption of up to 27.8 km/L, placing it among the most fuel-efficient cars currently available in Malaysia.

As the model has yet to be officially launched, full Malaysian specifications have not been confirmed. However, based on the Indonesian market, the hybrid variant produces around 90 hp and 121 Nm from the engine, paired with an electric motor, while the petrol version is expected to mirror the Perodua Traz with approximately 106 hp and 138 Nm.

10.1-inch Infotainment with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
Inside the cabin, the Yaris Cross carries a layout similar to the Vios HEV, with a strong focus on connectivity and usability. At the centre is a 10.1-inch infotainment display that supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
A fully digital 7-inch instrument cluster provides driving information, offering a more modern interface compared to typical rivals in this segment.

Toyota Safety Sense is also expected to be included, bringing active driver assistance features such as Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and Lane Keep Assist. The hybrid variant further adds a wireless charging pad for added convenience.

Toyota Yaris Cross vs. Perodua Traz
The Perodua Traz, launched in December 2025, shares much of its core architecture with the Yaris Cross, particularly in the petrol variant. Both models use a 1.5-litre Dual VVT-i 2NR-VE engine paired with a D-CVT transmission.
However, the product strategy between the two is clearly different. Toyota offers both a petrol and a hybrid variant, while Perodua limits the Traz to petrol-only options with the X and H variants.

In terms of features, the gap becomes more noticeable. The Yaris Cross is expected to include Toyota Safety Sense, which adds advanced driver assistance features such as Adaptive Cruise Control. In contrast, the Traz, even in its highest-spec H variant, does not include ACC, focusing instead on essential safety features.
This distinction reinforces the Yaris Cross as the more premium, technology-focused option, while the Traz remains a simpler, more affordable SUV designed for practical daily use.
