After the QV-E, Perodua has launched another model before the end of 2025. This time, it introduces a B-segment SUV to the Malaysian market called the Perodua Traz. Based on the spec sheet, Perodua positions the Traz between the Ativa and Aruz. It promises a larger cabin and aims to be a versatile family vehicle that works well in the city and for long-distance trips such as balik kampung travel.

Perodua Traz Price in Malaysia

Bookings for the Perodua Traz are now open, with deliveries expected as early as 2026. There are no early booking promotions offered, unlike what was seen with the Perodua QV-E, and the pricing is as follows.

The Perodua Traz is available in two variants, the X and the H. Notably, there is no AV variant in the lineup, unlike the Axia, Myvi, Ativa, and Alza. The most affordable option is the X, priced at RM76,100, while the range-topping variant is priced at RM82,000.

When asked about a possible Traz AV variant, sales advisors said it may instead be offered directly by Toyota. In overseas markets, the Toyota Yaris Cross is the model that the Traz is based on, and it is also available with a hybrid option.

It is not impossible for the Yaris Cross to enter the Malaysian market in both petrol and hybrid forms, similar to the Corolla Cross.

Perodua Traz: Technical Specifications

Coming back to the Perodua Traz, this SUV is built on the Daihatsu New Global Architecture B (DNGA-B) platform. It is designed specifically for Southeast Asian road conditions, offering a compact footprint for city driving while remaining large enough for long-distance travel.

Engine & Variants

Both Perodua Traz variants are powered by a 1.5L Dual VVT-i 2NR-VE engine. It produces around 104hp (78kW) and 138Nm at 4,200 rpm. The engine is paired with a D-CVT transmission that focuses on fuel efficiency. Perodua claims a fuel consumption figure of 21.3 km/L with a 42L fuel tank. Based on these numbers, the Traz can travel over 800km on a full tank.

Dimension Comparison

In terms of size, as mentioned earlier, the Traz sits in the B-segment SUV category. At 4,310 mm long, it is clearly longer than the Ativa (4,065 mm). However, it is still shorter than the Honda HR-V (4,385 mm), Proton X50 (4,380 mm), and Toyota Corolla Cross (4,460 mm). This shows that it is not intended to compete directly with C-segment models.

The Perodua Traz is 6mm wider than the Ativa (1,710mm) while remaining narrower than the HR-V (1,790mm) and X50 (1,800mm). It is also noticeably narrower than the Corolla Cross, which measures 1,825mm. With this wider stance, the Traz should feel more stable through corners compared to the Ativa.

Wheelbase tells a different story. The Traz has a longer wheelbase than the Ativa (2,525mm), HR-V (2,610mm), and X50 (2,600mm). This translates into better rear legroom and a cargo area that can accommodate more luggage.

Exterior & Cabin Features

On the outside, the Traz largely retains the Yaris Cross body shape, with several small changes made by Perodua to differentiate the Malaysian version from overseas models. These include revisions to the front grille, bumpers, and wheels. Buyers of the H variant also receive a two-tone exterior finish for a more distinctive look.

Inside the cabin, the Traz makes good use of soft-touch surfaces, especially on the door panels. The dashboard, however, still relies on hard plastics. It also continues to use an analog speedometer, unlike the Yaris Cross which comes with a fully digital instrument cluster. On the plus side, all variants are equipped with an electronic parking brake.

The good news is that the Perodua Traz comes with built-in Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support. There is no need for aftermarket add-ons to access smartphone navigation. The system is displayed on a responsive 9-inch touchscreen.

One drawback of the Perodua Traz is the absence of an adaptive cruise control system. This is not surprising, as ACC is typically reserved for the AV variant, which is expected to be sold by Toyota.
