After Proton opened bookings for the S70 Lite and Prime in early September 2026, the launch day has finally arrived on 22 September 2026.

As reported earlier, the Proton S70 NA fills the price gap between the Proton Saga and the turbocharged Proton S70. It is also expected to serve as the replacement for the Proton Persona, which is set to be discontinued.

Proton S70 NA price in Malaysia

The two Proton S70 NA variants are priced as follows:

• Proton S70 Lite: RM59,800
• Proton S70 Prime: RM62,800

As part of its launch promotion, Proton is offering a special RM3,000 rebate for purchases made in 2026. This brings the Proton S70 Lite and Prime down to RM56,800 and RM59,800 respectively.

Both variants come with a five-year unlimited mileage warranty and six free labour services.

1.5L naturally aspirated engine with 120 PS

For those who missed the news, the Proton S70 Lite and Prime are powered by a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine producing 120 PS and 150 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a CVT to deliver power to the front wheels.

For comparison, the Proton S70 Turbo produces 181 PS and 290 Nm of torque. To build confidence around the difference in output, Proton says the naturally aspirated engine has undergone more than 5,400 hours of dynamometer testing and over 412,000 km of local road testing.

Proton S70 Lite vs S70 Prime

Both variants use the same engine and transmission. They also share features such as an infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a reverse camera and rear parking sensors, remote engine start and six airbags.

The main differences are in their equipment and interior appointments.

The S70 Lite gets 16-inch alloy wheels, halogen headlights, fabric seats and manual air-conditioning. The S70 Prime upgrades to 17-inch alloy wheels, LED automatic headlights, auto-folding side mirrors, faux leather seats, automatic air-conditioning and front parking sensors.
