One of the most exciting moments when buying a car is choosing your registration number. In Malaysia, the Road Transport Department (JPJ) offers an online system known as JPJeBid, which allows you to bid for vehicle registration numbers entirely online, without having to visit a JPJ office.

Launched in 2019, JPJeBid was introduced to provide a faster, more transparent, and more convenient way for Malaysians to secure their desired number plates. While you can always opt for a random number to keep costs low, JPJeBid also lets you bid for special numbers that carry personal meaning—such as birth dates, lucky numbers, or memorable combinations.

In this article, you’ll learn which number plate series are currently available, how the bidding process works, and how to register a winning number to your new vehicle.

How to Check the Latest JPJeBid Number Plates

To use any service on JPJeBid, you’ll first need to create an account. Individual users are required to register using their Malaysian identity card (MyKad). Once registered, your account must be verified via an email sent to your registered email address.

After logging in, one of the key things you should do is check which number plate series are currently open for bidding. JPJeBid clearly displays the available series so you can plan your bid accordingly.

Submit Your Bid and Monitor the Bidding Price

Once the service fee has been paid, you can submit your bid. JPJeBid uses a pre-authorisation payment method, meaning the bank will temporarily hold the bid amount until the bidding period ends.

Other users may place higher bids, so you can monitor the bidding in real time and increase your offer if needed.

Bidding Results, Payment, and Printing the Winning Receipt

Each bidding session remains open for five days. After it ends, the highest bidder will be announced directly through their JPJeBid account.

A successful bid notification letter will be issued, and the winner can then visit a nearby JPJ office to register the vehicle under the winning number plate.
