Selangor has no shortage of interesting places to visit. 1. Muzium Orang Asli, Gombak
The Orang Asli Museum sits at KM24 Jalan Gombak. If you want to learn about the indigenous people of the Malay Peninsula, this is the place. The museum opened in 1987 and was modernised in 2000 after receiving RM3.5 million in funding, which allowed it to display far more exhibits.
Visitors can see a wide range of unique artefacts, including the finely detailed Hantu Makan Orang carving and the Harimau Rantai carving. Musical instruments like the Genggong, Pensol, and Semelai, once used by specific tribes, are also on display. Alongside the instruments, you'll find traditional clothing, blowpipes, and accessories such as the Gelang Simpai bracelet at the Muzium Orang Asli.

2. Royal Klang Town Heritage Walk
If you're in Klang, you can join a guided walk through the town's royal and colonial history. All you need to do is head to the Sultan Abdul Aziz Royal Gallery on weekends and register for the programme. Registration opens at 9:00am, with the session starting at 9:15am and ending at 12:30pm.
The walk covers 11 historical sites, starting at the Sultan Abdul Aziz Royal Gallery and continuing through the Royal Klang Club, Istana Alam Shah, Gedung Raja Abdullah, Lorong Tengku Kelana, the Klang Fire Station, and several other notable stops
Because it's an easy walk, it works well for the whole family. You can even get to Klang by Komuter train and walk a short distance from Klang station to the Royal Gallery.

3. Istana Bandar, Jugra
Still on the history trail: drive south across the Klang River and you'll find Istana Bandar in Jugra, one of Selangor's most significant historical sites. The building went up in 1899 under Sultan Alaeddin Sulaiman Shah's rule. It once served as the official residence of the Sultan of Selangor and, for a time, as the state capital. It has 40 rooms, built in a traditional mix of brick and mortar, with fine stone carvings and the layered roof style typical of Malay architecture.
After independence, Istana Bandar hosted several official events before the National Heritage Department closed it for conservation work in 2008 and 2009. Today, you can visit and learn about the history of Selangor's royal architecture.

4. Bukit Jelutong Eco Community Park
Once you've had your fill of history, head back to nature. Bukit Jelutong Eco Community Park in Shah Alam is a good fit. It's a natural park maintained by volunteers, ideal for a walk or a picnic. There's also a petting zoo with tame animals like goats, ducks, and chickens, which kids tend to love.
The Bukit Jelutong Eco Community Park is open daily from 6:45am to 7pm. It's popular with residents nearby who stop by for jogs or brisk walks. Since it sits within a housing area, there are food stalls close by too.

5. Pustaka Raja Tun Uda
Many call Pustaka Raja Tun Uda the most beautiful public library in Malaysia. The building is large, with 6 floors, reading spaces built around different themes, an exhibition gallery, a makerspace, and a children's area, among other facilities. And like everything else on this list, it's free to enter.
Visitors can easily spend a full day at Pustaka Raja Tun Uda taking in everything it offers. It's also close to Taman Tasik Shah Alam and Muzium Sultan Alam Shah, if you want to extend your walk around Shah Alam.
