The Chery Omoda C9 PHEV has officially been launched, entering Malaysia’s growing electrified SUV market. This is Chery’s flagship model, highlighting a spacious and comfortable SUV cabin combined with a powerful hybrid system that integrates both petrol and electric power. For those who are still hesitant about fully electric vehicles, a PHEV like this offers a practical alternative, as it retains a petrol engine to eliminate range anxiety.

For the Malaysian market, the Omoda C9 PHEV is offered in a single variant priced at RM208,800 (on-the-road). For context, this PHEV model is RM40,000 more expensive than the 2WD petrol variant and RM20,000 more than the AWD petrol version currently available.

As part of its launch promotion, Chery is offering a RM3,000 rebate, bringing the effective price down to RM205,800. Early buyers will also receive a complimentary Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) cable worth RM730.

In terms of warranty, the Omoda C9 PHEV comes with a 7-year or 200,000 km vehicle warranty. The engine is covered by an extended 10-year or 1,000,000 km warranty, while the electric motor components are protected by a 10-year or 200,000 km warranty.

The Omoda C9 PHEV is a C-segment, five-seater SUV. It offers a spacious cabin with 660 litres of boot space, which can be expanded to 1,783 litres when the rear seats are folded. Inside the cockpit, there are two 12.3-inch displays, one serving as the infotainment touchscreen with Android Auto support, and the other as the digital instrument cluster.

For in-car entertainment, the SUV is equipped with a 14-speaker Sony sound system. Other notable features include a panoramic glass roof, ventilated seats, and ambient LED lighting within the cabin.

Under the hood, the Omoda C9 PHEV features a unique petrol-electric hybrid system. Its 1.5-litre turbocharged engine is paired with three electric motors—two on the front axle and one on the rear. Together, these power sources produce approximately 400 hp (298 kW) and 310 Nm of torque. For a C-segment SUV, this translates into strong performance, with a 0–100 km/h sprint time of just 4.9 seconds. Chery claims it to be among the quickest SUVs in its class.

The battery powering the electric motors has a capacity of 34.46 kWh and uses Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) chemistry. The Omoda C9 PHEV can travel up to 169 km (NEDC) on pure electric power. When charging is required, it supports both 70 kW DC fast charging and 6.6 kW AC charging, with a 30% to 80% charge achievable in around 25 minutes.

Beyond its hybrid system, another standout feature is its active suspension setup. The SUV is equipped with Continuous Damping Control (CDC), which adjusts suspension stiffness in real time. Drivers can choose between Soft, Medium, and Hard modes depending on driving conditions.

On the safety front, the Omoda C9 PHEV comes with a comprehensive ADAS suite. Key features include Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Change Assistance (LCA), Emergency Lane Keeping (ELK), and Auto Parking Assist, which helps drivers park the vehicle automatically.
